To create a new class, click the Create New Class link on the Classes
page, type in the class name and click Insert.
Select the appropriate class on the Create a Lesson page and the lesson will
use that class's history and be added to that class's records.
LessonWriter's My Dictionaries feature is a way to add words and change definitions
or sentences for your students.
Teachers with classes at different levels or in different subjects may want to have
different dictionaries for each class.
To create a new dictionary, click the Create new dictionary link on the My
Dictionaries page, type in the class name and click Insert.
- Copy text for a lesson to the computer's clipboard.
- Click 'Lessons' on the navigation menu.
- Click 'Create a Lesson'.
- Follow the instructions for te input page.
- Select your class from the pull down list.
- Choose any dictionary you want to apply by checking the appropriate checkbox.
- Type the name of the lesson into the Title textbox.
- Paste your text into the Lesson Text textbox.v
- Press the submit button.

- Review the vocabulary recommended for your lesson.
- Uncheck words that you do not want in the lesson.
- Examine colored rows carefully, and check the words you want to include.
- Pink rows indicate phrasal verbs and the definition should be confirmed.
- Blue rows indicate words with more than one possible definition.
- Yellow indictes an idiomatic expression that should be confirmed.
- After approving the vocabulary, click the Continue button at the top or bottom of
the page.
- On the vocabulary page, click on the word you want to change.
- Select a dictionary, and click next.
- Enter in any missing conjugations, and click next.
- Enter a new definition, and change the sample sentence if it no longer applies.

- Click finish, and the new definition will show up.

- Click the Continue button at the top or bottom of the page.

- Select a root or stem to teach.
- Confirm that the checked sentences are good examples.
- Click the Continue button at the top or bottom of the page.
LessonWriter's recommended grammar exercise is highlighted in red.
- Select a grammar point to teach.
- Choose example sentences by checking the boxes. Short, simple sentences make the
best examples, and usually 3 examples or fewer is best.
- Click the Continue button at the top or bottom of the page.
- The reading is displayed paragraph by paragraph.
- Use the up or down arrows next to the text to move through the paragraphs.
- Choose the type of question you want to write-- short answer, extended response,
or multiple choice-- by clicking the appropriate link.
- Type the question into the space.
- Click 'Add Question'
- The question you wrote appears below the paragraph.
- Add more questions as needed.
Click the Continue button at the top or bottom of the page.
Use the image page to insert pictures or graphic organizers into a text. The reading
is displayed paragraph by paragraph. Use the up or down arrows next to the text
to move through the paragraphs.
For graphic organizers:
- Click a link on the right side of the page to choose a graphic organizer.
- Follow the instructions in the pop-up window.
Graphic organizers are inserted above the paragraph you choose.
For images:
- Click one of the image placement icons beneath the paragraph display.
- Click the upload image on the popup page.
- On the vocabulary page, click on the word you want to change.
- Select a dictionary, and click next.
- Enter in any missing conjugations, and click next.
- Enter a new definition, and change the sample sentence if needed.
- Click Finish, and the new definition will show up.
